Camping and Surprises

We kicked off the weekend with our last camping trip for the season. We left on Friday after Max's doctor appointment where we learned that he grew one inch since school started. Seriously kid? Stop growing. Soon he will be taller than me.

We met our friends at the campsite and Max was so excited to play with Mona all weekend.

The dads and kids went fishing on Saturday while the moms stayed back with the dogs. They caught 18 fish in two hours! That was very exciting for Max. He said that was his favorite part about the weekend. Plus, we got fish and French fries for lunch. Super yummy!

The kids had a lot of fun playing together all weekend. They played so well together it was beyond adorable.

Zoe got fixed on Tuesday and so we had to try and keep her chill all weekend. That was difficult, but we did have her in a surgery snuggy which helped keep her wound clean all weekend. She did get stung by a bee on Saturday and her face blew up, so Andy left to find the closest store to get her some Benadryl. After some time the swelling went down and she was a passed out doggie.

Of course Andy had to watch football in the woods. I must say it was fun to have the projector and screen up in the woods. Now, only if I could have watched my show then it would have been even better.

Well, that's it for 2019 camping. Until next year!

We ended the weekend with a surprise for Max that we have been keeping for a year. I put together a scavenger hunt throughout the house that ended with an envelope for Max. The envelope explained that we are going to Walt Disney World and on a Disney Cruise for Fall break. It also included a paper calendar that he can mark off the days leading up to our flight. He's super excited to go. He had no idea and it was very hard to keep the secret for a year. He got even more excited when we told him that we are going with our friends. He started jumping up and down and he's been looking at the calendar daily. He can't wait, but neither can I.

Concert, Baseball and Birthday Party

Last weekend we went to see Dave Matthews with our friends. On Friday night we sweated outside for the concert. Yes, it was an outside concert in Phoenix where it was about 104 degrees out. We were sweating like crazy. It was to the point that I wasn't having much fun. That's ok because Andy really wanted to go to the concert, so I earned myself some wife points by sucking it up and sticking it out the whole way through...sweat and all.

On Saturday, Max had a baseball game and it was the first game where he was the catcher. He was so excited to be the catcher. He was also excited that cousin Stephanie attended the game too.

After the baseball game we got home and gave Max a quick shower, because he stunk from sweating it out at his baseball game, and then we headed to a birthday party for one of his classmates at Chuck E Cheese. Max was really looking forward to this birthday party too. It was a lot of fun to see him play with his kindergarten classmates. I also took this opportunity to try and meet as many moms as I could. On the plus side I have learned that one of Max's friends from his class lives in our neighborhood, so that was a plus for me.

Weekend Update

We had a pretty chill weekend and honestly, those are some of the best weekends.

On Saturday morning Max had baseball practice. It was a very humid and hot morning so I felt bad for all the kids practicing, but they all worked very hard even in the heat.

Following practice (an a good hour to cool off in the air conditioning) we went to do the Home Depot kids DIY workshop and Max made a scarecrow planter. This month was an easy one so we weren't there very long. Max loves his planter and hopefully the little plant they gave us can survive past one month.

The rest of the weekend was busy with swimming, playing and practicing ball. We also got in a couple bike rides this weekend, which was a little aggressive considering the heat and humidity. Boy, I never thought I would wish for rain so bad in my entire life. We have the humidity, but it just won't rain here. I would love for it to rain for one whole week straight? Who am I to be wishing for it to rain? When did I turn into an Arizonan?  Ha ha!

Fall Baseball Season

Max started baseball a couple weeks ago and he had his first game last week on Tuesday. He gave it his all and got on first base the first time he was up to bat. The second time he was up to bat he made it to third base before his team struck out. He gave it his all in the outfield too. He was so into the baseball game that it made me very proud and worth sitting outside in the 105 degree heat watching him play while I was sweating like crazy.

His second game was last Thursday and he was having an off day. This was a completely different Max than the one on Tuesday night. It was still hot out so I don't blame him, but we had to have a talk with him about giving it his all to not let his team down. I think he was just over tired and extremely hot...like everybody else that was at the park and the rest of his teammates that were all sweating like crazy.

Max is loving baseball so far. His coach is awesome and really cares about teaching the kids how to play baseball. Max is actually into practicing at home too. It's fun to watch him enjoy a sport.
