Soccer, Basketball and a Birthday Party

Saturday was a very busy day and it revolved around Max's social calendar. We started the day off with the first soccer game for spring. Max is back with his old coach and with familiar faces on the team. I feel this is going to be a good season.

Following soccer, we piled in and headed to Max's first basketball game. We changed Max out of his soccer jersey and into his basketball gear in the car. I was wondering how a basketball game for four and five year olds would go and it was interesting. Very adorable...but interesting. Max was confused, but he started to catch on by the second half of the game. He started to get into the groove of the game by watching the other kids. I was proud of Max for getting out there and giving it his all. He's very excited for the spring basketball season and to learn how to play. I think Andy is more excited though since we have a basketball hoop being installed in the driveway at the end of this week.

Following the basketball game we got some lunch and then headed to Ella's birthday party. It was held at Urban Air and Max was talking about this party all week long. He was super excited to go and couldn't wait to play with Owen.

What a Saturday! We were wiped out by the end of the birthday party. It was time to get ready for dinner when we got home and then it was time to open a bottle of wine. Max was exhausted, but I think Andy and I were way more tired than him. I was starting to wonder what I did with all of my time on a Saturday before Max. I must have had a lot of wasted time!

Spring Break

Max has been living the dream during his spring break. The first week he did many things with grandpa J and grandma V while they were in town and he spent the second week just having a blast.

Monday he was playing with Briggs and Stella and went to a movie with them.

We did a Max and Mommy day on Tuesday where we went to Bounce a Rama, had a lunch date and built LEGOs outside.

He passed advanced survival swim and is now onto the bronze level where he will learn strokes.

He spend Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with grandma S eating out, swimming, playing at the park, shopping and just having a good time.

Spring Training

We only made it to one spring training game this year. Even though it was only one game it was a lot of fun. It started out chilly in the morning, but ended up being a really nice day to sit in the lawn and hang out with friends. Normally it's overly hot in the stadium, but this was a perfect day.

Playing beer pong with the dads.

Max had so much fun. He was super social (he's normally not like that) and I think it's just a part of him growing up. He played hard with his friends.

And auntie Amber...

And uncle Ryan and Emily...

Overall it was a great day that tired everyone out.

Grandparents

Grandpa J and Grandma V were in town all week hanging out with Max since it was his spring break. He was pretty excited for their visit and couldn't wait to spend lot of time with them. They did a lot this week. They went to the park, played a lot, Dave & Buster's and rode a camel at the zoo with grandma. He even ended up in Old Town Scottsdale going crap shopping and survived.

We ended the week with a dinner at Oregano's.

It always special when max gets to spend a lot of time with his grandparents. He looks forward to their arrival and is sad when they leave. Good thing he has more on the way here.

Friends, Family and the Ostrich Festival

On Friday night we went to the Ostrich Festival with our friends so Max could ride the rides with his friends.

I had to go on a couple rides with Max since he wasn't tall enough to go by himself. He was mad and started yelling "I don't want to go with you, I want to go with my friends." Uhm...ok kid. Not my rules. This was a sign of him growing up and this was bittersweet.

Grandpa J and grandpa V arrived on Saturday to visit and this was a perfect day for their arrival because Andy and I went to a charity event at the Children's Museum with our friends. This was a fun night out with our friends while supporting a good cause.

I even got Andy on the dance floor. This is something you don't see...ever!

On Sunday we went back to the Ostrich Festival so Max could ride the rides with grandma. It was crazy busy on Sunday so the lines for the rides were insane. After standing in line for one ride we were over it. There was no way Andy and I wanted to do this all day long, so we went and bought "fast passes" for Max and my mom. They got to pass all lines and were always first to ride the rides. Granted this was not a teaching moment for Max, but more of a keep mommy and daddy sane moment. We will teach him "waiting his turn" on a different day.

What a great weekend with family and friends. Max can't wait to go back to the Ostrich Festival next year.
