Birthday Weekend

Unfortunately everyone in our house is sick. Grandma L and Max have it worse than Andy and I, but we are all sick. Even though we are all fighting this cold, or whatever it is, we got out on Saturday and took Max to the Cars 3 movie. He's been dying to see this since he saw the first commercial months ago. He just loves Cars.

On Saturday, we surprised Max with his own fish tank. We had him take a nap in our room while Andy set up the fish tank in his room. He was surprised by the tank.

We had a low key birthday celebration on Sunday for Max's actual birthday. We took Max to the pet store to get the fish for his tank.

We got outside and swam for a little bit after Max opened his birthday presents.

We had Max's favorite for dinner: steak on the grill with sweet potatoes. Following dinner we had cake and sang Happy Birthday to Max.

It was such a nice weekend and I can't believe Max is already four. He's getting so big so fast. I remember the days in the NICU and how scared I was. Those seven weeks in the NICU seemed like forever and that they would never end. Now, those seven weeks were just a very, very short time frame in the grand scheme of things. I now have a big boy who will be starting Pre-K very soon.

We have his four year doctor appointment soon so I will have an update on height and weight. Right now his favorite things are: Disney Cars, Paw Patrol, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, PJ Masks, Batman, Candyland, Hot Wheels, swimming and riding his bike. His favorite food is pesto pasta, avocados, ham and pineapple pizza, steak and sweet potatoes. His favorite color is blue and his best friends are Izzy and Madison. He loves to fly and is a very good traveler. Things he dislikes: hair product that makes his hair crusty, losing when playing games, waiting because he is impatient and he really dislikes hearing the word "no." He pretty much eats anything we eat, so I can't think of a food that he dislikes. He's a very shy kid, but after about a 20 or 30 minute warm up to people  he is ready to go. He's a sweet boy who loves lots of hugs and kisses and I am a mommy who loves giving them to him.

Lots of Family

This week we had lots of family in town. It is always good to see family and this week it kept us busy. So busy that I didn't take a lot of pics.

First, Max had fun with grandma L all week.

A couple times this week grandpa TK, grandma S and great-grandma N picked Max up for lunch. He was so excited for this that both days he sat looking out the window and waiting for them. He pulled the chair up all by himself and Andy found him just sitting there waiting. This melted my heart when Andy sent the picture to me while I was at work.

One night we ordered pizza and had everyone over. Max got to open a couple early birthday presents and he had tons of fun playing with everyone.

On Friday night we went to grandma S and grandpa T's house for an early birthday celebration for Max. This included presents, swimming, cake and lots of giggles.

Father's Day

I had some plans for us to get out and have fun on Father's Day, but with Max being sick and still having a fever we decided just to lay low on Father's Day. I made homemade waffles, bacon and eggs for breakfast and then we gave Andy his gifts. Max was very excited to give Andy his Bucky and Cubs flags.

He was the most excited to give Andy his grilling plate.

We made that together a few weekends ago when Andy was in Wisconsin. We used Max's hand print to make the lion. I got food safe paint and we followed the directions I found on Pinterest. We hid the present so Andy wouldn't find it when he got home from WI. Max was so excited that I thought he was going to tell Andy all about it when he got home, but he didn't.

It was a chill Father's Day since Max was still sick, but it was still a good day. Happy Father's Day to Andy who is an amazing father to Max. Also, I hope everyone else had a great Father's Day too.

Vegas and Sickness

Grandma L arrived to town on the 11th and that was good timing because I flew out on the 11th for my annual marketing conference. That way Andy had some help with Max while I was out of town. I was in Vegas for about 5 days and that is a very long time to be in Vegas. I was so over it by the end of the week and I was ready to come home. Plus, I missed my favorite little man like crazy. While I was at the conference I brought home 4 marketing achievement awards for my Firm. This was super exciting and I couldn't be more proud of my team for working so hard all year long.

While I was away Max kept grandma L very busy, but he also got her sick. Max got sick on Monday (and is still sick) and grandma L got his sickness on Wednesday. I was glad I was out of town for the germ sharing in our house. So far Andy and I have not gotten sick (knock on wood), but Max and grandma L have been miserable. They rested a lot, but they did get a little playtime in.

I was greeted on Friday morning with tons of hugs and kisses from my favorite little man, Max. It was so nice to get  home to so much love.

Supporting the Brewers

I received baseball tickets from a vendor of mine and it just so happen the tickets were for the Brewers vs. the AZ Diamondbacks last Sunday. The seats were really good. They were 5th row between home plate and first base. Now, these seats also made me pay attention because we kept getting balls our way.

At one point there was a foul ball and a Brewer through it into the crowd heading straight for my face. In shock I put up my hands to try and catch it, but I was thinking in my head how I was going to get blasted in the nose by a baseball. Lucky for me, the guy in front of Andy reached his arm up and grabbed the ball and turned around and gave it to Max. That was very nice of that man to do that. Especially since it should have been our ball anyway.

Max was pretty excited that he got a ball from a Brewer and we were very appreciative of the man in front of us for stopping the ball from smacking me in the face and for giving it to Max. It made this little boy's day.

Birthday Party

Last Saturday we had Max's fourth birthday party for him and his friends. Months ago he requested a Lightning McQueen themed party, so of course I went onto Pinterest to generate ideas. My party planning skills took over and before you know it I had a themed banner, life size card board cutout, a road through our kitchen and many other themed decorations.

Since it was so hot out I made it a Wet 'n Wild Cars themed party. That included pool time and I rented an 18' water slide. I was also able to find blow up tubes that looked like tires to go with the theme. Plus these tubes the kids were able to take home in the them.

This year Max let everyone sing Happy Birthday to him. Last year he was so shy that he didn't want anybody to sing to him. It was nice to be able to do that this year. Max of course requested a Lightning McQueen cake. Actually, he really only asked for the themed cake and some balloons. Too bad his mother can't just stop at that. I started with a couple things and my party planning skills got the best of me and before I knew it the whole house was decorated.

What a great party and Max has plenty of giggles and memories from he day. He turns four very shortly and I can't believe it's coming up so fast. My little baby is growing up and will soon be off to Pre-K.

Another Week with Max

Last week was the second week that Andy and I juggled work and watching Max. Since it was a holiday week I was home with Max two days and Andy was responsible for the other two days.

Since we had a long staycation weekend I decided that it was best to stay home on Tuesday. We swam in the pool and did projects. We started the day with a Pinterest project. Max painted using the bubble tape booties and mittens I made him. This was a lot of fun. A little messy, but oh so worth it.

On Wednesday Max had a playdate with his buddies Stella and Briggs. He was looking forward to this playdate. He wanted Andy to take him at 7 in the morning, but he had to wait. Max had a blast playing with them. He told me all about it when I got home from work.

On Thursday I took Max to see a movie in the "comfy seat" theater. Max just loved the lounging in his seat. We saw Boss Baby and it was a cute movie. Due to the previews, Max wants to see Captain Underpants now, so I am sure that and Cars 3 will be next on our list.

On Friday Andy took off to WI to help his mom move, so we enlisted help from our friend Kim. Max got dropped off at her house and he had a blast playing with his other good friends, Owen and Ella. They made slime together. The whole car ride home Max told me all about how much fun he had and he asked me if I had ever been to auntie Kim's house before. He's too cute!

Since Andy was in WI for the weekend that left a mommy and Max weekend, or shall I say a weekend of Max wearing mommy out. We made pizzas, went to the park, did projects and we swam A LOT! We played Candyland more than I can count and we just had a good weekend of fun and laughter. I didn't take many pictures of our weekend together, but I did take these three.
