Weekend Update

He Like every other toddler, the big man likes to play with shoes. He definitely gets a giggle out of putting our shoes on. He started the weekend in my workout shoes.

We then moved on to get him a much needed haircut. The lady styled his hair into a faux hawk and he looked like such a little stud. He chose to sit in the fire engine truck again and watch the movie Cars.

We then hit up Old Navy because the big man keeps growing and we had to stock up on shorts and t-shirts for him. Sorry WI peeps, but we are about to enter shorts and flip flop weather here and I know you are not even close to that.

We picked up some cool shades for the big man and he loves them. He hates when the sun is in his eyes so the sun glasses worked great. Plus he likes them because mommy and daddy wear their sunglasses too.

We also got the big man signed up for swim lessons and got a tour of the facility. He is starting this Friday as a little snapper and I am looking forward to it. One thing this place required is a cloth reusable swim diaper so we purchased one at their place and tried them on him when we got home to make sure they fit.

How cute is he? One thing I noticed is the cloth diaper is really not a diaper. It's not meant to absorb anything, but it's meant to hold in any poop so it doesn't get let loose in the pool. Since Andy or I are in the pool with him, until either he graduates to the next level or turns three, I realized I am going to be in a pool of pee! Even though that doesn't sound fantastic I am looking forward to his swim lessons because it's very important that he is comfortable in pools/water and learns how to swim.

Happy Valentine's Day!

As you know, we are not big fans of this Hallmark holiday, but the big man made it a lot more fun. We got him a couple small toys and one large balloon. Let m tell you, that balloon was/is a big hit. He loves that thing and played with it for an hour straight on Saturday. If I would have known a balloon would provide so much solo entertainment for him I would have purchased him many balloons over the past six months. Anyway, it was too cute!

Honestly, I have no idea what we are going to do once the balloon deflates. He loves this balloon so much and carry's it with him throughout the house. He won't even let it go while he sits in his chair to eat. I have a feeling he might be getting a balloon for St. Patty's Day, if not sooner!

The big man also helped daddy give the doggies a bath. Ok, so maybe he didn't help, but he watched and wanted to help...that counts!

Say Cheese

I found these photos in the camera from a few weeks ago and thought I would share. We were eating dinner and getting the big man to smile for the camera. So here he is!

How adorable is that face?

A Very Sick Weekend

This was a rough weekend in this house because everybody was/is sick. And I mean everybody...including all three animals. Poor Max got sick last week but went drastically downhill on Thursday afternoon with a fever. He had his fever through Saturday and we were very happy he woke up this morning sans fever. Besides the fever, coughing and runny nose he also acquired two more teeth. One more molar and another front tooth. His gums also look pretty swollen so I won't be surprised if another comes through this week.

It was absolutely beautiful weather here this weekend and we had plans to attend the food truck fest, but the sickness got the best of us...and I mean all of us. The poor animals. I don't know what their deal was but Izzy puked on Saturday and so did Captain. On Sunday Madison wasn't feeling well and had stomach issues. This just added to our already crappy weekend.

As I lay in bed typing this I am hacking away and sneezing. Andy is also struggling. We are both hoping for a Monday morning miracle that we will both wake up and feel a million times better. What are the chances of that happening?

With 3 animals and two adults out of commission this weekend it was very hard to entertain the big man. One would think he would just want to snuggle up since he was so sick, but nope, not this 19 month old. I am assuming that is totally normal. It was a struggle but we managed with a little help from Sesame Street, Toy Story and Cars. On Sunday we (meaning Max) just had to get out of the house. Andy and I were in no shape to leave the house and venture out in public, so the backyard had to do. We busted out the bubble machine Max received as a Xmas present and he just loved it.

Here's what happens when I have to resort to the iPad for entertainment because my head was pounding so bad and Andy wasn't much better. A Max selfie!

Here's to a positive healthy week...right?

Super Bowl Parties Have Changed

Since the big man's arrival everything has changed, and not just the super bowl parties, but it's a nice change...a different change. This past weekend we had the annual Seifert Super Bowl Party. This is always a good time had by all that tends to be a late night on a "school night." The night usually revolves around shenanigans and shooting the shit with other adults that just want to relax and have a good night. This year there was no relaxing for me. There was no shenanigans (or adult shenanigans). There was no late night and there definitely was no shooting the shit with other adults. Instead my night revolved around entertaining the big man. It's not a bad thing by any means, it's just different from the usual super bowl party.

Good thing there was plenty to entertain the big man, especially other little children. I had the most joy from watching him play with other little children. It was super adorable!

We first started in the fruit tree garden. The gigantic grapefruit turned into balls for him to throw.

We then got a bite to eat. The big man was having too much fun playing that he didn't eat much at all.

Taking a water break!

We played connect four with Jillian and the big man made me proud when he showed me that he knows how to share. When Jillian joined us she didn't have any chips, so I asked Max if he would share some of his and he politely handed his chips to her. This was a very proud mommy moment because I didn't know he knew what sharing was. The sitter is paying off!

We played more games.

A fun round of ring around the rosey with Jillian and Allie.

He just had to play the piano once he saw that. I mean it is just like grandma L's piano so he got a good giggle out of it.

Andy was so kind to let me watch the half time show while he sat with the big man for a bit trying to feed him something.

We got a family photo where Max kept waving at the camera.

The big man also played hard on the stairs because those are so cool. Between chasing him around the house, on the stairs and in the backyard this mamma was ready for bed. We took off immediately when the game ended. It was a different super bowl party this year, but different in a good way.

New Tooth and New Word

The Big Man has been dealing with teething since early December. Poor guy has been in and out of pain since then. It's been a long time so I started to give up on new teeth coming through until last week. A molar broke skin! It was very exciting in this house. His teeth definitely are not coming in order (but whose does anyway) since he only had his two front top and two front bottom teeth.

Besides the new tooth the big man also expanded his vocabulary to include the word baby. I was showing him baby photos of him on my phone. I told him it was baby Max and then let him scroll on his own. He stopped and pointed at a photo and said "baby" very clearly. Andy and I both heard it and turned into very nerdy proud parents.

As you can see above he likes to play the "sticker game." We started this new game on Saturday and he thinks it's a ton of fun.

Last week was a good week for us with the new tooth and the additional vocabulary word. Super exciting in this house!
