Fun With Good Friends

This past weekend our friends hosted another craw fish boil. They did this last year too and yet again it was a lot of fun. Ms. Diana watched Max while Andy and I went over there for adult time. There's nothing better than getting together with friends that you are really close with...friends that you can call family. We enjoyed a lot of laughter, adult beverages and 20 pounds of craw fish.

Huge kudos to Russell for making the craw fish. I was also thrilled that he made a "kiddie" batch for my taste buds since I can't handle spicy foods. So much laughter that night, I wouldn't trade this group of friends for anything.

P.S. Andy may have passed out on the couch that night because he couldn't make it up the stairs. Ha Ha!

SAHM: Day 4

Friday was day four of me being a stay at home mom and I saved the best field trip for last. In the morning we went to Urban Jungle out in east Mesa. This place is pretty cool. I showed a video of it to Max ahead of time so he was pretty excited to go. For only $8 it provided two hours of entertainment that completely wore us both out. This giant place was filled with many different activities from trampolines to slides and everything in between.

With a half an hour left on our time Max was ready to call it quits and head home. He was pretty tired, but I convinced him to stay for the last half hour. I really wanted to make sure he was tired. We both played hard together and on the car ride home Max says "I have the best mommy because she plays with me." That was so sweet and worth the backache I had the next day when I woke up. I definitely played hard with him that we were both sweating pretty bad. It was kind of gross, but so much fun.

We get home and Max can't wait to tell daddy all about the Urban Jungle and his special gripper socks that we were wearing. We took one step up the stairs and Max turns around to me and says "That place wore me out." Well, mission accomplished then. I promised Max I would take him again on my next day off of work in May.

My week of being a stay at home mom was a lot of fun. Max and I had a great time together and created a lot of memories. I am pretty exhausted from my week, but it was so worth it. I look forward to the next Max and Mommy day at the end of May.

SAHM: Day 3

Let me just say that it's the end of day three and I am EXHAUSTED! Max really knows how to wear me out. I did plan a field trip for each day (I also have another one for day 4) thinking it would help wear him out. I am finding that plan was a little aggressive and it kind of back fired. It's keeping him entertained, but exhausting me.

For day three we went to the IDEA museum in Mesa. We typically go to the Phoenix Children's Museum so I thought I would switch it up and try something different. This place is quite small and the activities were interesting, but Max had a blast. He had so much fun that after 2.5 hours I had to convince him we should leave to go get lunch. I did remind him that he gets hangry when he's hungry so we should probably go get food in his belly before the hungry Max monster shows up. He then proceeded to tell me that he won't get hangry today if he can stay. Uhm...no, I was not buying that cute adorable face this time.

After lunch and a nap we played at home. Lots of play time in the toy room where Max made me a pizza dinner complete with strawberries on top.

Then we went outside after I had some caffeine.

Day three ended with a bike ride around the neighborhood and playing at a new park we discovered. Day three of being a SAHM was a little aggressive and I am so exhausted I am not sure how I will get through my planned field trip on day four.

SAHM: Day 2

I went into work on Tuesday, so Andy was in charge of Max all day while I went to work. My day two of being a SAHM was on Wednesday and since I can't sit around the house all day I planned for us to go to the Mesa History Museum. I got this idea from my hair dresser and it definitely was a win with Max. Half of the museum was about dinosaurs and Max just loved that. Besides dinosaurs there was all kinds of history that they made it fun for kids to learn. They also had various puzzles and activities for kids throughout to help them learn and understand about events so long ago. Max now understands that dinosaurs are extinct and why they are extinct. We spent about two hours there before he was pretty tired and then we headed home.

Seeing the life sized dinosaurs was a big hit. We even got to hold dinosaur poop.

We had a lot of fun doing the various puzzles and activities throughout.

We went outside and panned for gold. Max was super excited about this and he got a lot of fool's gold in his tiny bag. We did this activity for a while.

Tunnels and slides are always a big hit.

We hit up the store for a dinosaur book and puzzle. Max couldn't wait to get home and tell daddy all about the dinosaurs and how they are extinct, and it was the dinosaur bones that we saw and not the actual dinosaur itself. It was beyond adorable listening to him tell Andy all about it. This place was pretty cool and definitely worth a visit if you are looking for something to do.

SAHM: Day 1

Since Ms. Marie closed her doors on April 7th we have had to find other plans for Max until he starts Pre-K in July. For three months Max's grandparents are all taking turns coming down to watch Max and then Andy and I will fill in the gaps that the grandparents are unable to do. This week is a "gap week" and I am a stay at home mom (SAHM) four days this week.

Monday was the first day and we had a good time together. In the morning Max and I played outside together and then he wanted to wash his truck.

Max's friend Briggs came over for three hours in the afternoon and they had a good time together.

We played at the park.

Had a snack together.

Play-doh was fun for everyone.

We also played a Paw Patrol game and we really need to work on Max being a good sport when he doesn't win. It's something he needs to learn because he is not good at it right now. Briggs won the game and Max had an all out temper tantrum with full on tears. So....that was fun!

Day one was a success and it was nice to have Briggs over so Max could play with another kid.

Easter Weekend

We had so much fun this holiday weekend from coloring Easter eggs, egg hunting, swimming and spending time with good friends.

Saturday morning Andy felt like our pool was warm enough to swim in, but it wasn't exactly warm enough for me. I decided to be the designated picture taker while Andy and Max had fun in the pool. Max was beyond excited that pool season is here.

Max lasted close to an hour before he got too cold and decided to call it quits.

Later on Saturday, Max was very excited for egg coloring. We (aka Max) colored 18 eggs and this year was a lot less messy than prior years. That's partly because he's older, but it's also because he doesn't like to get dirty. He doesn't like his hands to get dirty.

On Sunday morning Max found that the Easter bunny was very nice to him.

The Easter bunny also hid a bunch of eggs in the backyard with piggy food and Hot Wheels.

When you don't have blood family, you surround yourself with great friends you call family. We spent Easter afternoon with our family of friends. The kids swam in the pool for a while before we had dinner.

It was a buy weekend, but so much fun!
