Sleeping At The Museum

Last Saturday night we spent the night in downtown Phoenix at the Children's Museum. Our friends had the museum for a night and they were able to invite so many others to spend the night with them. I believe there ended up being 14 adults and 19 kids that spent the night. It was so much fund. The kids got free reign of the museum. They got to play on everything without it being a crowded day.

After everyone ate dinner we were put into teams to compete on various activities. Max and I were on the Yellow/Green team. We named ourselves the glass frogs. The little girls on our team came up with it.

Max was beyond excited to have Owen on his team. He doesn't get to see him very much, but he absolutely loves playing with him and then play so well together.

Andy was on the purple team.

There were various games to play and things to do throughout the museum.

A movie was put on the for kids and they enjoyed popcorn and candy while the parents went to the next room for a Murder Mystery game.

The parents stayed up way too late and that made for a very long Sunday, but we all had fun. Max had so much fun that he asked on Sunday when we can do that again.

Baseball

The Fall baseball season has started last week and Max was excited for the first day of practice. He was even more excited when he arrived and saw another boy from his school there that he recognized from recess. This time around Max is loving it even more than in the spring season. I think that's because he understands the concept a lot more.

His team for the season is the Pirates and he was excited to get his new hat.

He first game starts next week and there will be two games per week. So, get ready for many baseball posts.

Weekend Update

We had a really nice weekend with nothing planned on the calendar. Sometimes it's just really nice to not have any plans and nothing to do. Since it's still hot out we got plenty of use out of our pool this weekend.

Since we swam and played all day on Saturday I thought it would be fun to go out for dinner and a movie to see the Lion King. We purchased our tickets online at Alamo so that we could lounge, eat dinner and relax while we watched the Lion King.

I decided to break out the gift grandma Norma gave Max for his birthday and do tie dye shirts on Sunday morning. I thought it was best to do it outside even though it was pretty warm out. Max decided he wanted a circle in his shirt so I assembled the shirt with the appropriate rubber bands to get the "circle" in the shirt. Max also wanted to do rainbow colors so it took quite a bit of time. We had a lot of fun doing this project and Max definitely wants to do this again sometime soon. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the final product, but trust me, Max's shirt turned out so cool.

Escaping the Heat

We escaped the heat and went up north camping for the weekend. It was nice to hang out in a hoodie in much cooler weather. When we got there we realized it had been raining everyday for the past week. That made it extremely difficult to make a fire. The fire wood we purchased from the campground was damp and there was nothing around us that was remotely dry. This made for an early bedtime for everyone.

On Saturday morning Max helped Andy try and make a fire so we could make frittatas over the fire. This took a lot of effort, but the boys finally got the fire going.

This was Zoe's first time camping and I think she really enjoyed it. She struggled with being on a leash all weekend, but other than that she liked it. Madison enjoyed lounging in the camper like she always does.

It rained for a couple hours on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't a downpour, but a nice rain. We kept the windows open in the camper and watched trolls on the projector and screen that Andy brought. It made for a really nice and relaxing Saturday on a rainy afternoon.

Even with the rain we got a lot of play time in. Notice the hoodie in the pictures. That might have been the best part about the weekend (besides the movie snuggles).

The fire was finally roaring so we could make s'mores.

The fun part of living in Arizona is that we are only a couple hours away from cooler weather where we can escape the heat and have some family time.

Weekend Shenanigans

We had a fun weekend! On Thursday night I was completely surprised by my best friend who flew into town from MN to hang out with me for my 40th celebration. I had NO idea she was coming. I was in total shock to see her come to my house at 10:00pm. Of course Andy knew and helped coordinate and he did a good job of keeping it a secret.

On Friday night we went out to dinner at a local spot. While we waited for our table Max got comfy.

I was signed Max up for the Home Depot kids workshop on Saturday morning and since Kelly was in town for the weekend Andy took him. He has a lot of fun at the workshops. Plus he looks super cute in his apron.

Andy planned out the whole birthday celebration and he did an excellent job. I really wanted to spend my 40th in Napa for the weekend, but the timing just wasn't going to work out. So, Andy brought Napa to me. We did a wine tasting tour in Scottsdale with our friends. We hit up three "wineries" and didn't make it to the fourth that was planned because it was dinner time.

We had dinner reservations at a hibachi restaurant. I didn't think I would be able to eat at these restaurants since I am allergic to gluten, but Andy called ahead of time to make sure they could do it for me. Instead of soy sauce they used Tamari for our grill. Yay!

We went to another bar and then for some reason we all decided to hit up an Escape Room at 10:00pm. Needless to say we did not escape. We failed. I would like to try this again sometime without wine prior to the event.

We spent Sunday chilling around the house and Max had a great time hanging with Kelly.

It was an awesome weekend! Andy did a great job of planning my 40th birthday celebration. I appreciate my friends for coming out to celebrate with me and especially for Kelly who traveled from MN when it's 110 degrees here. My 40s are going to be fabulous!

Happy Birthday to Me

On Friday I hit the big birthday! I was trying to think of a fun dinner place that Max would enjoy, so I decided on the Melting Pot. It was his first time there and he had a blast. He normally doesn't sit well for a two hour dinner, but he enjoyed fondue so he didn't mind the two hour long dinner. He said the best part was the chocolate and being able to cook his own meat.

We were all super stuffed from dinner but headed home for cake anyway. My stomach really didn't need any cake, but since Max was pretty excited for the cake I had some cake anyway. I mean, how could I turn down homemade GF cake made with love by Max?

We spent Saturday in the pool since it's still scorching hot here. Then Saturday night we went to Briggs and Stella's Little Mermaid play. This was SUPER ADORABLE and really good. The kids in the play did an excellent job and we really enjoyed it. Max was really excited to give his friends a candy bouquet for a job well done.

On Sunday we headed to North Scottsdale to have dinner with friends. Since it was a school night we pretty much had to eat and run. It was good to see them and catch up since it's been a while. I guess that's what happens when life gets in the way.
