We escaped the heat and went up north camping for the weekend. It was nice to hang out in a hoodie in much cooler weather. When we got there we realized it had been raining everyday for the past week. That made it extremely difficult to make a fire. The fire wood we purchased from the campground was damp and there was nothing around us that was remotely dry. This made for an early bedtime for everyone.
On Saturday morning Max helped Andy try and make a fire so we could make frittatas over the fire. This took a lot of effort, but the boys finally got the fire going.
This was Zoe's first time camping and I think she really enjoyed it. She struggled with being on a leash all weekend, but other than that she liked it. Madison enjoyed lounging in the camper like she always does.
It rained for a couple hours on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't a downpour, but a nice rain. We kept the windows open in the camper and watched trolls on the projector and screen that Andy brought. It made for a really nice and relaxing Saturday on a rainy afternoon.
Even with the rain we got a lot of play time in. Notice the hoodie in the pictures. That might have been the best part about the weekend (besides the movie snuggles).
The fire was finally roaring so we could make s'mores.
The fun part of living in Arizona is that we are only a couple hours away from cooler weather where we can escape the heat and have some family time.
