Happy Birthday to Me

So, today is my day to turn another year older. In all honesty, I completely forgot it was my birthday this week until Andy reminded me on Monday night. After a certain age one just doesn't care to make a big deal about getting another year older. It just doesn't seem important anymore. Also, we have been putting all of our energy lately into pumping Max up for Pre-K tomorrow. And that has taken A LOT of energy and planning to get that guy ready and pumped.

Even though I have not been into my birthday this year I needed to find that party girl inside of me because Max was ecstatic over his mommy's birthday and I couldn't be a party pooper and let him down. I mean I woke up this morning to Max yelling happy birthday to me and jumping into my arms for a giant birthday hug. Now, who wouldn't get into the birthday mood after that? It was a nice way to start my day.

After work I was greeted with a very excited Max who gave me presents and flowers.

We went out to dinner, swam in the pool and then had cake. Max sang happy birthday to me before we blew out the candles.

Having Max and Andy to celebrate my birthday with made this year's birthday a million times better...even when I was not in the mood to celebrate at all.

Camping

We were supposed to go camping this past weekend, but due to the forecasted rainy weather the camping weekend was cancelled. This left a very bummed out little boy who was really looking forward to camping. Andy came up with the idea that we would still camp, but at home. He set up our old tent in the living room and we made s'mores in our back yard. Max was super excited about this and he was ok with camping at home.

Of course camping isn't complete without fishing. We got up early on Saturday morning and headed to Bartlett Lake. It's about an hour north of our house. It's definitely not cooler there, so that's why we headed out very early. We ended up catching 7 fish and had a lot of bites and fish stealing our worms.

Due to the heat we only stayed for close to two hours. It was very scenic and beautiful there. Definitely worth the drive. Fishing topped off our "camping" weekend and Max had so much fun that he made daddy sleep in the tent with him again on Saturday night.

Grandmas and Grandpas

We just ended our three months of grandmas and grandpas coming to town to help watch Max before he starts Pre-K. Andy and I are very grateful for all the help we received and the best part was that Max got to spend a lot of time with all of his grandparents. He had a blast these last three months and now that it's over he's a little sad. He will just have to FaceTime with his grandparents until the next visit.

Grandpa J and Grandma V were just in town to finish off the three months. They were here for two weeks and just left on Friday. Max had a great time with them while they were in Arizona. Here are some pictures from the last two weeks.

First Getaway

This past weekend Andy and I went to Las Vegas together and it was the very first time that we both went out of town together and left Max home. We both have been gone and away from Max for a few nights, but never together. We have always relied on each other to watch Max. This time we did a much needed weekend together with a couple of our friends. Since grandpa J and grandma V were in town it was the perfect time to do this.

I will admit, I had a little anxiety over leaving him for the first time. Not because I didn't trust my parents, but because it was the first time both of us would be gone and I was worried how Max would handle it. Well, let's just say he was completely fine. That is until we FaceTimed him. Then he got sad, but other than that he was having a blast with his grandparents. He was living the dream and I am pretty sure he ordered them around all weekend.

While Max was at home ordering his grandparents around, Andy and I were having adult time with two of our closest friends. This was a much needed trip. We both had a blast! Here are a couple pictures, but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

Month of Grandma L

On Saturday grandma L left town and headed back to Wisconsin. She was in town for four weeks and her and Max had a blast together. Granted they were both sick for almost three weeks out of the four weeks, but they still had a great time together.

Here are some pictures of their fun times. All photos are courtesy of grandma L.

Grandma L left on Saturday and Grandma V and Grandpa J arrived on Saturday for their two week stay. Then Max will start Pre-K.

Projects and Painting

This weekend we did some projects. First, we blew up some baggies using baking soda, vinegar, food coloring and water. Max loved this one so much that we blew up four baggies.

We made rockets and raced them. Somehow Max's rocket always beat grandma L's rocket.

Per Max's request, we made purple slime.

Grandma L and daddy painted the whole upstairs grey this weekend and Max wanted to help. Grandma L was teaching him how to paint and then about five minutes in he was done and ready to move onto something else. So, we played together and swam in the pool while Andy and grandma finished painting.
