Max had said that he wanted to go to a Cubs game sometime so we got tickets for Sunday and took Max too. Max did say that he wanted to go to the game in the shade and not sit in the hot sun. We believe he was referencing the spring training games. We informed him that we are going to the big stadium downtown that is inside and he was excited for that. Plus, we decided to go for brunch with our friends...and the best part...we were going to ride the public transportation train all the way to downtown Tempe for brunch.
After a very yummy brunch, we then got back on the train and headed to the game in downtown Phoenix. We were packed in like sardines for the second train ride because apparently riding public transportation to the game downtown is the thing to do. Max had a blast on the train though, but he had even more fun at the game. We had pretty good seats behind home plate in the first row on the upper deck. It made for great viewing.
We left the game a little early because Max was tired and I was honestly not interested in being packed like a sardine for a 50 minute train ride all the way back to our car. Basically, I was one of those parents who was trying to beat the crowd out of the stadium. I wouldn't have minded so much if we had our own car down there. It was just the sardine part that I was not a fan of and would have preferred not to ride that way all the way back. Max passed out on me within 10 minutes of being on the train. He was exhausted from the day's activities. I was pretty much holding him like a baby most of the time even though he is too big for that and it was super uncomfortable.
The Cubs made for an exciting weekend and I now can say I rode the train. It was worth it for Max's excitement. I can check riding public transportation in Phoenix off my bucket list.
