The North Pole

Last Friday we took a train ride to the North Pole. This journey is such a big deal that I had to buy our tickets way back in early Septembr and even then all the weekends were taken.

We started to prepare Max by watching the movie, The Polar Express, three times before we went in hopes that he would understand what the adventure was all about. He loved the movie so much that he sat still through the whole thing. I am sure it was because a Train was in almost every frame, but who cares, Max loved the movie.

We headed 2.5 hours up north for the 5:30 departure time. We got there early to grab dinner and see the tiny town. Unfortunately Max didn't want to eat or do anything but "get on train!" By the way it was super cold up north so Max got some use out of his puffy winter coat.

The train ride was actually pretty neat. It was a hour and a half of the workers trying to mimic the movie/book with all the little kids in their Xmas Jammie's. Even though Max loved the movie he was just over the moon to be able to ride on a real train.

When the conductor came by to punch his ticket (just like in the movie) Max knew what was going on and his mouth was just wide open.

We arrived at the North Pole and Max was excited to see the lights and even more excited when Santa hopped on board and gave him a bell from his sleigh.

The train trip to the North Pole couldn't have been on a worse weekend because we moved to our new house on Mnday and needed all the time we had on the weekend to pack. But Max had so much fun and that brought a lot of smiles and joy in this house. I highly recommend a trip to the North Pole if you have little ones.
