August Update

August started out great for Max because he was named the Portrait of a Lerner at school for the month of August. He earned this for his good behavior and being a good student. His teacher said that he is a great listener and role model for the other students in class. For this achievement Max got recognition at school with his photo on the wall and a root beer float at lunch one day. Max said it's really hard to get Portrait of a Learner. We are very proud of him. When we went in for parent teacher conference I took a picture of him on the Portrait of a Learner wall.

For fifth grade the students could choose if they wanted to be in band, orchestra or general music. Max picked band and he picked the trombone for his instrument. The dogs are not a fan of the trombone.

Speaking of the dogs, Sammy had another surgery earlier this month. We noticed she was peeing blood so we took her the the vet and it was assumed she had a UTI. After a week of medication she didn't get much better so we took her back. They did an x-ray and found that she had three bladder stones the size of golf balls. She had surgery that day and when she got home she was back in her crated area in the living room. She had about 10 days of recovery and she is back to her normal happy self.

We came across this doggy bakery store near our house and Max and I decided to stop and check it out. Max suggested that we get the dogs some treats since Sammy deserved it after the rough time she has had lately. This store was super cute and they had baked goods made for dogs.

Max got a pasta maker for his birthday from his cousins Tayler and Batu. One day we made homemade fettuccini pasta with a butter garlic sauce for lunch. Then another day we made homemade lasagna noodles for Andy and Max to eat while I was out of town for work. Max really had fun making the homemade pasta. He was really into it.

I got a new job that I have been at for one month now. It's been crazy, but good. There was onboarding/training for the new sales and marketing team up in northern Arizona at the CEO's cabin. It was a nice team engagement.

One night we went out to dinner and I took a picture of this alien next to a phone booth. Apparently there is a movie called Fire in the Sky about an alien abduction. I think it was filmed here. It was a tiny north woods town.

Andy and I went to a concert with our core group of friends. Steve Miller Band, Journey and Def Leppard performed and it was a great show. It was fun to hang out with our friends and go back to the 80s.
