Weekend Update

Every year I do a Shutterfly book to show the memories that were made that year. I have come to the conclusion that my 2020 book is going to be quite skinny because we have not been doing very  much, like the rest of the world. Another weekend has come and gone and another weekend of not doing much.

Max and Andy got in the pool, but it's still to cold for me.

Saturday night we had dinner outside while we watched a movie.

But, this picture sums up quarantine life.

Easter Weekend

Easter was obviously different this year as we are all in quarantine, but we still made the most of it. On Saturday, we colored eggs. We had three stations: regular egg coloring, galaxy egg coloring with baggies and egg coloring using whipped cream.

Sunday morning we woke to find that the Easter bunny arrived. He left Max a very nice basket and eggs in the backyard for Max to find. The plastic eggs were filled in coins and dollar bills for Max's piggy bank.

Andy made bunny butt pancakes for breakfast and Max thought this was hilarious.

For Easter dinner we did go over to grandma S and grandpa T's house. They too had an Easter basket and chocolate egg hunt in their house.

I hope everyone is healthy and had a fantastic Quarantine Easter.

Happy Birthday Andy

We celebrated Andy's birthday in quarantine, so we made the best of it. On Friday we ordered takeout from a local fancy restaurant to celebrate. Max got the filet mignon with twice baked potato and it was really good. He plowed through it all. We thought there would be leftovers because the steak was so big, but that did not happen. This boy can eat.

We also got an Oreo ice cream cake from Cold Stone.

We watched the new Trolls movie together and opened presents.

Another birthday came and went and we were happy to spend the night together as a family to celebrate Andy's birthday.

Also, this week Max got to talk with his teacher. He lit up like a Christmas tree when they talked. He read her a Bob Book and they talked about what he's been up to. They have a scheduled talk every Wednesday morning going forward.

We also had a virtual playdate with one of Max's friends. It went way better than I expected. They spent about 30 minutes online talking to each other. Max liked it so much that he wants me to coordinate more virtual playdates with his classmates.

Quarantine...Another Week

Another week has come and gone and we are still in quarantine. While Andy and I are sharing this house to work from home, Max has been doing a good job with his homeschooling. He misses school a lot, but he is getting used to his new normal.

School at grandma S and grandpa T's house. He has officially passed all of his kindergarten site words and is now onto first grade reading. Yay Max!

Getting in some kids yoga for P.E. A big thank you to my friend for giving me this idea. It's a show on YouTube and the yoga is geared towards kids. Max just loves it.

A project with grandpa.

This weekend Max built a big fort in the living room that Zoe kept ruining.

We did another 5 mile (round trip) bike ride to grandpa's house for some swimming.

I ordered a take home DIY board project. It was an Easter theme and supposed to be kid friendly so I turned it into a family project. Max did his board all by himself and chose which colors he wanted. This was more fun that I thought and we had a great time doing it.

We Have Entered April

Well, it's April Fools Day and I am not sure we need to pull a prank because the universe has pulled the biggest prank on us yet. However, Max did pull a prank on Andy this morning and he fell for it. First, Andy was upset this morning because he had to clean up Zoe's puke because she ate her breakfast too fast. I saw this as an opportunity to pull a prank on Andy. Once Andy calmed down and went to his office, Max went in to tell him that Madison pooped in his toy room. Andy had a toddler sized temper tantrum because now he has to go clean up dog poop when he just cleaned up dog puke. He got to the toy room and realized Max was pranking him and Max yelled "April Fools." It was too funny. Hey, around here (and probably most homes) it's the little things these days because we are not doing much...like most people.

We did an art project this weekend.

Ate our lunch outside while we relaxed.

We baked a lot of banana bread. We used great-grandma Marge's recipe and grandma L's recipe and we made three batches, one of which was gluten free.

We rode our bikes all the way over to grandpa T's house for a nice family bike ride. We were shocked that Max made it there and back.

On Sunday we went to grandpa T's for some swimming and Zoe got tossed into the pool to make sure she can still swim. She wasn't very happy with Andy afterward.

Monday morning was back to homeschooling and we started with Osmo while we waited for Max's teacher to give him a call. He was so excited to hear from his teacher. It just made his day. He can't wait to talk with her again.

It's been an interesting time with homeschool, no sports and AZ officially canceling in-school sessions for the rest of the year. Max is so upset by this because he misses his friends and teacher so much. I feel so bad for him.
