Testing

February 22, 2013

I wasn't sure if I should blog about this topic since it seems to be so controversial.  I decided to anyway because I believe everyone has their own right to make decisions in life and should not be judged and criticized for those decisions.  With that said, if you judge us or criticize us I really don't care.

Andy and I decided to have testing done to determine our baby's chances of having down syndrome and other chromosome disorders.  I have heard people say that people should not do it because you are dealt the hand you are given with and you have to deal with it.  I respect people's beliefs, but that is not how I feel and Andy and I are on the same page with this.

I am happy to say that our results came back that our changes of having a down syndrome baby or a baby with other chromosome disorders are extremely small.  It's 1/10,000 chance of that happening.  That was some good news that we had.

Besides all the testing that went on we also got some really cool ultra sound pictures.  You may have a hard time seeing our baby in the pictures, but I see the baby and I definitely saw the baby on the big screen in the room.  The baby was doing so many gymnastics that the lady had a hard time getting the measurements and images she needed.  This took at least 20 minutes for her to do.  I didn't mind because it gave me more time to stare at our baby on the large flat screen.

This is when the baby was moving its arm so much it appeared the baby was waving at us.

Here is a side view of the baby head to toe.

Here is a profile view of the head.

Here is the hand.  Notice my red arrow in case you can't find the hand.

Here is a photo of the baby facing us.  Kind of looks like an alien.
